Month 3!!!!// Mes 3!!!!

Babies do grow fast! I can hardly believe we have already reached month number 3. As I was looking through old pictures and previous blog posts over the last few days I am amazed at how much Zuri has changed. For starters, he sure has grown. A LOT!! I have already collected a big bag of clothes that do not fit him any more. This bag includes a lot of onesies I didn't even have time to try =(

Bebês crescem muito rápido! Mal posso acreditar que já chegamos a 3 meses. Nestes últimos dias eu estive dando uma olhanda nas fotos antigas e posts anteriores sobre e fiquei espantada com o tanto Zuri mudou. Para começar, ele com certeza tem crescido. Eu já juntei um saco grande de roupas que não cabem mais nele. Incluindo um monte de "onesies" (nao sei o nome) que eu nem sequer tive a oportunidade de experimentar = (

The little boy is only 3-months old and he is almost too big for his swing already. He can now reach for the toys that hang from the bar and enjoys moving them. Lately, he has been doing a lot with his hands. I was expecting him to find them and look at them for a while...but no, he went straight to grabbing. Let's just say that now I know why new mom's have less hair...and a lot more scratches too (regardless of how short we keep his nails)!

O garoto tem apenas 3 meses de idade e ja esta quase grande demais para o seu balancinho. Ele agora consegue alcancar os brinquedinhos pendurados e gosta de movê-los. Ultimamente, ele tem feito muito com as mãosinhas. Eu estava esperando ele encontrá-las e ficar observando elas por um tempo ... mas não, ele foi direto para a agarrar tudo que ve. Vamos apenas dizer que agora eu sei porque novas mães tem menos cabelo ... e muito mais arranhões  também (independentemente de quão curtas as unhas)!

Last week Zuri attended his first wedding. It was the beautiful wedding of our friends Sean and Ia which took place at a ranch close to San Antonio, TX. That was about a 5 hour drive each way for us but it turned out well. There was no crying until the trip back but it only lasted a few minutes until we found a place to stop. Zuri also behaved during the wedding and let mommy watch the whole thing while he slept.

Na semana passada Zuri assistiu a seu primeiro casamento. Foi o belo casamento de nossos amigos de Sean e Ia, que foi celebrado em um rancho perto de San Antonio, Texas. Isso foi cerca de 5 horas de carro para nós, mas acabou bem. Não houve choro até que a viagem de volta, mas só durou alguns minutos, até que encontramos um lugar para parar. Zuri também se comportou durante o casamento e deixar a mamãe assistir tudo, enquanto ele dormia.

Zuri also got to meet daddy's cousin Otavio and his beautiful wife Paula. He had a lot of fun with them and got his first ever toy car too.

Zuri também conheceu o primo de papai, Otávio, e sua bela esposa, Paula. Ele se divertiu muito com eles e ganhou o seu  primeiro carrinho de brinquedo.

Within the next few weeks we plan on "graduating" Zuri from his bassinet in our room to the crib in his room. I know it is just the room down the hall but I am already feeling separation anxiety. We will see how this transition is going to go. =)

Dentro das próximas semanas, nós planejamos "graduar" Zuri do moises onde ele dorme no nosso quarto para o berço no quarto dele. Eu sei que é apenas o quarto no fim do corredor, mas eu já estou sentindo a ansiedade de separação. Vamos ver como vai ser essa transição. =)

Weeks 11 and 12: The Growth Spurt// Semanas 11 e 12: Fase de Crescimento

It lasted about 10 days but felt more like an eternity. During these 10 days Zuri went from being a sweet little boy who was sleeping as many as 10 hours/night to an insatiable baby who was very cranky unless he was either eating or sleeping. He insisted on eating close to every hour day and night and had very uncomfortable sleep during those days. It got to the point where I had to make a couple of trips to the pediatrician who thought he might also be having some allergic reaction to something in my diet. Not to mention that those two weeks were some of the busiest weeks for Marlon and he was not home for quite a few of those days. Needless to say, it is no wonder I am only getting to write about it now  (2 weeks later) and I have no pictures for those days except for the ones I took at the end of week 12 when things were returning to normal.

Durou cerca de 10 dias, mas pareceu mais como uma eternidade. Durante estes 10 dias Zuri deixou de ser um menininho doce que estava dormindo até 10 horas por noite e se tornou um bebê insaciável e irritadiço, a nao ser quando ele estava comendo ou dormindo. Ele insistia em comer a cada hora noite e dia, tendo um sono muito desconfortável durante esses dias. Chegou a um ponto em que eu tive que fazer algumas viagens ao pediatra, que pensou que ele também poderia estar tendo alguma reação alérgica a algo na minha dieta. Sem mencionar que essas duas semanas foram alguns dos dias maisocupados para Marlon e ele não estava em casa por muito daqueles dias. Não é de admirar que eu estou apenas começando a escrever sobre isso agora (duas semanas depois) e eu não tenho fotos para os dias exceto as que tirei no final de semana 12, quando as coisas estavam voltando ao normal.

Praise God we got through those days and have returned to a more livable schedule of eating and sleeping. Today as I looked back at the pictures from his birth until now, I could really see how much he has grown. He is also so much more interactive too. Even when he wakes up in the middle of the night (happens sometimes depending on how early he falls asleep) he is all smiles and talk (or coos).  Marlon and I love to watch him show us all the things he is learning. The new trick for these weeks is that he smacks his lips when we blow him a kiss. It seems to be his attempt a blowing a kiss.

Louvado seja Deus porque aqueles dias ja passaram e agora retornamos a uma rotima mais amigavel. Hoje,  depois de passar algum tempo vendo as fotos do nascimento do Zuri até agora, eu pude realmente ver o quanto ele cresceu. Ele também esta muito mais interativo. Mesmo quando ele acorda no meio da noite (acontece algumas vezes dependendo do quão cedo ele cai no sono), ele é todo sorrisos e conversa. Marlon e eu adoramos vê-lo mostrar-nos todas as coisas que ele está aprendendo. O novo truque para essas semanas é que ele tenta mandar beijinhos quando agente manda beijinhos pra ele. Ele ainda nao aprendeu a juntar os labios mas tenta fazer o barulinho com a lingua.

Since I will be putting a new "3-month" post in the next few days, I will end this post here by saying that I am really loving being a mommy to this amazing little guy and that although these days were a bit tough, I am happy to be here for him!

Como eu estarei colocando um novo post de "três meses" nos próximos dias, vou terminar este post aqui dizendo que eu estou realmente amando ser a mamãe desse menininho incrível e que, embora estes dias foram um pouco difíceis, estou feliz de estar aqui para ele!
