Here we are at month number 2!!! This month was definitely easier than the first and a lot funnier too! Now that Zuri is spending a lot more time awake during the day we get to interact much more. He has also been revealing little bits of his personality to us and we are thoroughly enjoying this new phase. He loves human interaction, much more than any toy we show him. When we sit him down supported by the Boppy pillow and sit next to him he loves to stare at our faces and tries to copy our facial expressions. Lately he has been making a lot of noise like he is trying to participate in the conversation. If we sit and talk to him, the little guy will watch and make sounds in response. I am absolutely loving our conversations every day. He also likes to talk to the ceiling fan when we put him down on our bed...today he had a long conversation with the fan (part of which I recorded and you can watch below). He also like to make noise when we sing or when he listens to music...Last friday at church, we were sitting by the piano during song service and he started to "sing" along with us...it was so cute I almost cried (wish I could have recorded it for you to see).
Aqui estamos no mes número 2! Este mês foi definitivamente mais fácil do que o primeiro e muito engraçado também! Agora que Zuri está gastando muito mais tempo acordado durante o dia nos podemos interagir muito mais. Ele também esta revelando pequenos pedaços de sua personalidade para nós e nós estamos gostando muito dessa nova fase. Ele ama a interação humana, muito mais do que qualquer brinquedo que possamos mostrar a ele. Quando nós colocamos ele sentadinho apoiado pelo travesseiro Boppy e sentamos ao lado dele ele gosta de olhar para os nossos rostos e tenta copiar as nossas expressões faciais. Ultimamente, ele vem fazendo muitos sonzinhos, como se ele estivesse tentando participar da conversa. Quando nos sentamos e conversamos com ele, o garoto fica so observando e tenta responder. Estou absolutamente amando nossas conversas todos os dias. Ele também gosta de falar com o ventilador de teto, quando o colocou na nossa cama ... hoje ele teve uma longa conversa com o ventilador (parte da qual eu gravei e você pode assistir abaixo). Ele também gosta de fazer sons quando cantamos ou quando ele ouve música ... sexta-feira passada na igreja, estávamos sentados atras do piano durante o serviço de cantico e ele começou a "cantar" junto com a gente ... foi tão bonitinho que eu quase chorei (queria ter gravado para você verem).
When it comes to sleeping, he is doing pretty good too. For the last 2-3 weeks he has been going to bed between 7-10 pm depending on whether we are home during the evening or coming home from church. Once he is in bed he usually sleeps 5-7 hours until he is ready to eat and sleep again for another 3-4 hours til morning. So basically, I wake up 1 to 2 times during the night. Although, I should explain that when he wakes up to feed it usually takes about 1 hour before he is back to sleep (a few minutes to change the diaper, 20-35 minutes to feed, and the rest of the time to burp and rock him). But all this sleep comes at the price of staying awake a lot more during the day...I definitely don't mind but I am getting a lot less done around the house.
Quando se trata de dormir, ele está se saindo muito bem também. Nas últimas 2-3 semanas, ele foi dormir entre 7-10 pm, dependendo se estamos em casa durante a noite ou vindo da igreja. Uma vez que ele esta na cama, ele geralmente dorme 5-7 horas até a proxima mamada e dorme de novo por mais 3-4 horas ate de manhã. Então, basicamente, eu acordo 1 a 2 vezes durante a noite. Embora, devo explicar que, quando ele acorda para comer, geralmente, leva cerca de 1 hora antes de ele voltar a dormir (alguns minutos para mudar a fralda, 20-35 minutos para se alimentar, e o resto do tempo para arrotar...). Mas o preco de todas essas horas de sono a noite sao varias horas acordado durante o dia...eu definitivamente nao me importo mas nao consigo fazer muita coisa aqui em casa.
Yesterday, we went to his 2 month appointment. This is the appointment with the first round of immunizations :-( (not counting the one he got at the hospital). I confess that I was worried about his reaction to all the shots and I prayed much for the little man for the last few days. Just the thought of him being in pain was breaking my heart...Well, I gave much thought to this and tried to figure out how best to go about it, specially because I was sure that I would cry if I saw him cry in pain (silly, I know, but most moms will understand me). So I got some breastmilk in a bottle and fed him while he was getting his vaccines (3 injections!!!!). He only cried for a few seconds after the second and little bit more after the more painful third...and that was that. He wasn't even fussy in the afternoon...hopefully he will continue to do well. Praise God!!!!
Ontem, fomos para sua consulta de 2 meses. Esta é a consulta com a primeira rodada de imunizações :-( (sem contar o que ele recebeu no hospital). Confesso que estava preocupada com a reação dele as vacinas e eu orei muito a respeito disto nos últimos dias. So de pensar dele sentir dor quebrou o meu coração ... Bem, eu pensei muito nisso e tentei descobrir a melhor forma proceder, especialmente porque eu tinha certeza que eu iria chorar, se eu visse ele chorar de dor (boba, eu sei, mas a maioria das mães vao me entender). Então, eu coloquei leite materno na mamadeira e dei pra ele enquanto ele estava recebendo suas vacinas (3 injeções!!). ele só chorou por alguns segundos após a segunda e um pouco mais após a mais dolorosa terceira ... e foi isso. Ele nem ficou enjoadinho depois ... espero que ele continue assim. Louvado seja Deus!!
Immunizations apart...Zuri continues to grow following his growth curve perfectly. As of today, he weights 13 lb 11 oz and measures 23 1/2 in. He is quite a big boy and my achy arms can tell you all about it.
Imunizações aparte ... Zuri continua a crescer e seguir a sua curva de crescimento perfeitamente. Hoje, ele pesou 6.20 kg e mediu 59.5 cm. Ele é um menininho grandinho e meus braços doloridos sao provas disto.
Well, this post is getting long so I am going to end it here. The last thing I want to say is that we are looking forward to out trip next week to the pastor's family retreat (although a little apprehensive about the long car ride- 6 hours). I guess I will have to tell you how that went on the next post. See you next time!
